Meanwhile in China …
Once again the saying
Somewhere in China there is a little girl warming up with your max.
turns out to be accurate.
200kg!
Update: reddit comment by olympic_lifter:
They’re probably not focused on the power portion of it, just building the strength to stay tight. It’s also a relatively low-fatigue exercise, even with the extreme weight, which might not be the case if you were really trying to be explosive. Since you can’t be very explosive at that % above your max, there’s not so much point, but you can do a fair number of them this way and use it to improve your dip-drive positions.

This exercise is still part of the exercise list of the german weightlifting federation (BVDG). However, according to my first coach this exercise is not used any more. Partly because it was found to be ineffective and partly because knee problems can arise from it.
Thus, it is interesting to me to see that in China they have a different opinion.

Agreed, that this is awesome. the mechanics of the dip are usually “messed up” with a tilt or a dive and i think its partially because it is only practice load free for speed, or load bearing for full jerk motion, but never with extreme load for…. form? I know i practice load(front rack) holds to build a stronger rack so the weight i do jerk doesn;t seem so heavy…. =0
