May 6, 2015 By Gregor Winter

Those were the 2015 Youth World Championship in Lima.

It was a blast being there. The atmosphere was so much more lighthearted compared to senior worlds.

Check out the ATG Facebook, @atginsta & @allthingsgym on Twitter as well as the IWF Facebook & Twitter where I will be posting updates.

Thank you for good quality recap. Would you tell us the time the live competition are on {US Eastern Daylight time and Europe Central Time)?

44 kg silver medalist lifts were 70 + 76! Was she injured?

You can find the schedule in the start book. and then convert them to your time zone. Google “Time in Peru” and see the offset compared to where you are.

A sessions start usually start 15:00 local.

Yes 44kg girl from Vietnam won the Snatch and limped on stage to do her C&J. Looked quite painful.

      April 10, 2015 at 19:53

Peru is UTC-5. EDT is UTC-4. CEST is UTC+2. Wikipedia helps a lot! So for example the 58A today is at 14:00 local which is 15:00 EDT and 21:00 CEST.

And yes +1 for the best lift videos. A groups are mostly too late here in Europe.

Watching the live stream and wow, is certainly something else. No commentary, or back stage views; just non stop lifting and Latin music LOL. They don’t even tone it down to let lifters concentrate. Totally more carefree and friendly than the Worlds or Olys.

    • GHM says

      April 10, 2015 at 03:21

      Yes 🙂
I think the music is not played during the competition as I hear public announcements.

      • Gregor says

        April 10, 2015 at 07:48

        That is correct.

  3. wlift84 says

    April 10, 2015 at 19:58

…and the Chinese girls look like their 63/69 entries, based on their bodytype. But I don’t recognize them from nationals or sth. Girl in white looks like Li Xueying though, he.

  4. Victor says

    April 10, 2015 at 22:29

Greg, a slight correction. Yan Li went 83+102=185 to beat Koha since she would have lost on body-weight if they both did 184.

I’m excited to see how CJ “the USA’s Future in WL” Cummings does today, looks like he has the 3rd highest snatch and clean and jerk openers

    • GHM says

      April 11, 2015 at 23:49

He is older of two brothers. The one who was in news is Cummings Clarence who lifts in 69 kg. He failed 118 in snatch but did 150 in CJ.

  6. Victor says

    April 11, 2015 at 01:30

Well, that wasn’t Liao Hui OP but it was still pretty convincing, especially when Wei took the snatch gold with what appeared to be a power snatch on his first attempt. Let me just say, that Garcia Chavez, the Mexican lifter, is really amazing. So lanky, so much ectomorph, still lifts big weights. Makes be feel terrible about complaining that I’m naturally too skinny. What happened to Cummings? looks like he voluntarily passed out LOL

  7. Minh Ngo says

    April 11, 2015 at 13:37

mind you, Nguyen Tran Anh Tuan isn’t the same 56kg Thach Kim Tuan that ATG posted a few months ago…
Lol seems like Vietnam is producing some strong 56kg dudes

  8. Wibba says

    April 11, 2015 at 14:34

Damn that guy from Vietnam seems to have the slowest pull ever, although he manages to get his lifts!

  9. wlift84 says

    April 12, 2015 at 10:54

Lift the World: “In weightlifting in order to win first place, 90% of the time you must beat the Chinese”.

Youth WC: CHN entered 7 lifters and won 6 of those classes. That’s 86%. 😀

    • Victor says

      April 13, 2015 at 00:23

Would have won the -77 too if Liu Weijian could lift as both -69 and -77 since he totalled 300, which is 3 more than -77 champion Lopez, who got 297 😀

    April 12, 2015 at 13:38

Good to see Latvia stepping upp their game, nice lifting from koha han suharevs

      Go Latvia! Strong lifter.

  11. Roy Mitchell says

    April 13, 2015 at 00:47

That jerk by Igor Obukhov is straight up savage

  12. Jerker Karlsson says

    April 13, 2015 at 15:51

There are quite a few lifters from North and South Amrerican countries in the result tables. Nice to see the sport is going more global on the youth level.
