Time for the 2016 Junior & Under 23 championships.
This one is in Eilat, Israel.
The start list looks promising. Bummer I couldn’t make this trip happen financially.
Update: no streams, no videos or even pics. Well done EWF
Best chance are random facebook live streams by audience members.
When: 4th-10th October

the Championship has already started, where can I find live stream links?
Gregor says
“Live Stream links will be posted here once they become available”

Looks like we will be unlucky this time Gregor,

Unfortunately looks like it ?

Some pretty big names on the start list with Getts, Okulov, Maligov, Lasha, etc.
I see the EasyWL logo on the start list pdf so perhaps that means they will be streaming it?
Gregor says
That’s what I assumed but so far it seems like they are skipping it.
Or maybe they have the usual first day setup difficulties.
DylanJM says
Cannot believe they are not streaming this event. They streamed this event in previous years so there isn’t really any acceptable excuse for why they aren’t this year imo. Not even a live scoreboard…
Mr. Urso talks about what a sorry state the sport is in after the recent doping crisis and how badly it is being perceived by the general public. How about doing something to change that by providing a platform to get the sport out there into the public. Show them the good aspects of weightlifting. A blurry picture posted on twitter of the medalists really isn’t good enough in 2016.
As for his proposal that the men and women’s competitions should be run at the same time at WWC, etc. that’s just an absolutely terrible idea for many reasons. I mean how do you even present that on tv???

Yeah I was surprised as well that he thought multi platform competitions are a good idea.
The people who should be the most upset about this utter lack of media coverage are the lifters themselves. They should complain in masses to their representatives who in turn should bring it up to the IWF/EWF boards (to elect people who are willing to spend money on media teams).
In my opinion it should not just be a side issue, but one of the top priorities for them.
So far media coverage has not been high on list of things they deem important it seems. I don’t see this changing as long as the same people are in charge.

I suppose this will be the last comp with RUS etc. lifters for more than a year.
Also I don’t particularly care for a stream since no high lifts are to be expected, but setting up a simple manually updated scoreboard was possible 20 years ago.

I’m intrigued by Scarantino’s action on the Jerk. Look at what his left leg does: the foot stays planted on the floor, and the knees goes back until it’s slightly hyperextended. The knee then sort of bounces back, and at that point the foot finally lifts and starts moving forward, very rapidly indeed.
It’s like he’s waiting at the very last possible moment to begin the forward part of the split, maybe to milk every last drop of the driving action; it looks to me like a fairly extreme action, and I don’ know how many other top athletes do the same.
.
Having said that, congratulations to him on winning the title. For the record, not that anyone needs reminding of course, he totalled only 1 Kg less than in Rio, (-2 in the Snatch, +1 in the C&J).

Looks like Dekha will fill the space left by all the banned 75s. Good for 125+150 in two years.
