Highlights

Timur Naniev had an amazing competition by snatching 192kg and clean and jerking 230kg

192kg Snatch

21 year-old @nanievtimur (-105kg, Russia) snatching 182kg, 188kg and 192kg/423lb in his hometown of Vladikavkaz where he won the 2016 Russian Championship with 192/230/422. David Bedzhanyan was absent for unknown reasons but presumably this puts Naniev in the running for a spot in Rio — to be decided later. Check out the HG socks from @hookgripstore too! Thanks to Jakub Szafran for the music!

@adammaligov (-94kg, Russia) clean and jerking 220kg/485lb at the 2016 Russian Championships in Vladikavkaz! He also snatched 181kg to total 401kg and improve on his 178/219/397 from the 2015 President's Cup in Grozny. This total puts him in good position to be on the Russian team headed to Rio this summer.

Will there be a live stream of the event? And when is it happening?

      May 24, 2016 at 16:58

Yeah, I’ve just embedded it! Cheers.

Went through the starting list. Many Russian top lifters. Albegov, Aukhadov, and fan favorite Mogushkov. Next to his name is the number 216 and I thought at first that is his bodyweight, but it is just his starting number.
However, his starting total is only 370. All starting totals are rather low actually.

    Results?

    • Phil says

      May 26, 2016 at 12:20

I thought they might be uploading them at the end of the day but it doesn’t look like it, I’m pretty sure last time they had a results sheet for each class at the end of each session, maybe they’ll upload the whole booklet at once.

      • TheTurk says

        May 26, 2016 at 14:25

Until that time, can you write the results of the each competition? I am sure that everybody is curious about it.

          May 26, 2016 at 14:43

Gregor is uploading pictures of the results after the sessions onto twitter, I’ll have the other results linked as soon as they appear. Cheers

They don’t even have female 48 or male 56, 62 comps. That’s how big Russians are LOL

    • Leviathar says

      May 25, 2016 at 16:20

They have, Aleksandr Krasnov won 56 with 110-130, the low russian classes isnt as good as the heavier ones

      • Realist says

        May 25, 2016 at 16:23

Oh, LOL. I thought they didn’t cus I didn’t see them on the line-up. I thought they wanted to focus all their resources on the higher classes since they don’t have a chance to win in the lower categories anyway.

      Quick Trivia!
Who was the last male Russian lifter to win 52 or 56 or 60 or 62 kg world or Olympics total medal, any medal? Who was the last male Russian to break 52 or 56 or 60 or 62 world senior record?
The winner may attend 2017 Russian championship 56 kg competition 😉

is Apti Aukhadov in 85 or 94 kg class??

    • logicalfellac says

      May 26, 2016 at 00:16

He’s listed under 85 if you look at the start list.

      • Esseker Fit says

        May 26, 2016 at 09:43

it’s on Cyrillic so I have no clue what names are on the list

        • logicalfellac says

          May 26, 2016 at 11:43

One way to know who’s who from the list (without actually teaching yourself how to read Cyrillic alphabets) is referencing the birth dates and totals.

Also some names, like Artem or Adam, are actually spelled in a way that looks very much like in English.

Just throwing it out there in case you’re trying to figure out any other names you are looking for.

            May 27, 2016 at 20:14

It’s ok mr. einstein, you told him what he wanted to know and he’s not comfortable with cyrillic symbols. No need to be cocky, if you really want to teach him something do it respectfully.
Don’t forget it is about sport which is about bring people together and respect each other.

I get why my original reply would come across as condescending. 🙁
I apologize to the OP if he/she felt disrespected by it.
In any case, I wasn’t trying to offend anyone; just thought these tips could be useful.

Someone tell him about the doping penalties…

  10. Leon says

    May 27, 2016 at 16:07

Wow, two guys failed in the 77 class bombed out in the jerk. Other than an injury I don’t see an explanation.

  11. Leon says

    May 28, 2016 at 11:03

I am becoming a fan of Okulov. Nice clean and a good jerk. Aukhadov looked very shaky.

  12. Ben says

    May 28, 2016 at 17:02

Holy crap that was an easy 192 snatch, he looked like he had 200 in the tank.

  13. AleksiH says

    May 28, 2016 at 17:06

But why Bedzhanyan is not lifting? Injured? I quess he is still the best -105 for Russia to throw in.

    • Phil says

      May 28, 2016 at 17:34

      He’s sick.

  14. Ben says

    May 28, 2016 at 17:21

Is the stream down for anyone else?

    • Phil says

      May 28, 2016 at 17:33

It was, it’s been a bit intermittent.

  15. logicalfellac says

    May 28, 2016 at 19:34

Disappointed for Khugaev but excited for maligov. He looked really solid.

    • Phil says

      May 28, 2016 at 19:38

Yeah it’s been great watching these lifters progress over the years, I hope Khetag will peak in a few more.

    • Leviathar says

      May 30, 2016 at 09:31

Maligov was impressive but after his 178-219 at presidents cup i wasnt really that suprised, but what did Ivanov, Kireev and Khugaev lift?
