Good results by Zulfat Garaev at 62. But he’ll have to wait if Russia will be at Youth worlds.

I’m finding the results of this comp quite interesting. A few of the lifters results are a bit lower than I would expect. Same thing happened at the Euro JNR/U23 competition. I’m guessing they are being extra cautious after the doping revelations from 2016. Or perhaps they just haven’t peaked fully for this comp and are still working towards a larger competition. Either way it’s going to be pretty interesting to see what happens going forward.

Russian Cup never had that big results compared to other competitions. It’s simply due to being so early in the year. There is no reason to be in peak shape at this time of the year. However officials use this competition to select team members for training camps.
Next important competitions is Europeans in 2 months.

Do the RFWF/coaches know something we don’t with regards to the country ban still floating in the air? Russia withdrew their lawsuit against the suspension after Agapitov met with Ajan. Then further, this preparation, training camps, team selection doesn’t make much sense when the country is with certainty out of international comps for a year.
So what’s really going on? Kolesnikov today announced the extended group of women preparing for the Euros. Would Kashirina lift here (decent results no less) if she was out for a year? Quite pointless.
Is the ban somehow off the table? Or was the RFWF simply told the commencing date and this happens to be after the Euros? I find this “everything’s fine” procedure weird.
