Lasha’s 221kg Snatch World Record Attempt
grobpote says
Loredana Toma was impressive yet again although her jerk needs some polishing. She might win a medal at the worlds this year. How about Nico Müller! Good for him – and German weightlifting.
Nothing great so far but I didn’t expect that just a few good fights and we got that. I hope the 85 will be a good comp today.
GHM says
Yes, 240 will get her a medal in 63kg and new +90kg category if Chinese and Khazaks do not show up.
Here is 221kg WR by the man himself.

Why there are so few 56 kg men lifters?

Putting LASHA instead of +105 kg is spot on Gregor!! :)))))
Here in the UK organisers use to put a clock counting back before the main attraction arrived like Boltdown or MOTIme for Mohammed Farah. You should do that for Lasha 🙂
Alfonso Alfredo Rodriguez says
With very few exceptions a very mediocre championships. Too many first class lifters missing. Rebeka Koha and Lasha Talaxadze were excellent. Lidia Valentin is past 30 and not showing any further progress and winning in a lackluster form with mediocre lifts; I doubt she will make top of the podium or even the podium if the Russian and Chinese come back to competition. The ladies’ 90kg and +90kg classes are at this time a joke. Yes, it may have been a “clean” championship but very boring as well with lackluster competition. The “off year” should have been the year after the Olympics and not the middle year in the Olympic cycle.
grobpote says
Don’t worry this was the last gappy competition so this won’t be an off year. We are now back on track 🙂 I am hoping for much improvement at the worlds when the Weightlifting world will be whole yet again.
GHM says
Asian games results could be medicare as well.
I do not think Kazakhstan and China can enter in 2018 Asian Championship either. Asian games are Aug 18, 2018 – Sep 2, 2018 and the IWF ban ends in mid October (19?) right before the Worlds.
