After he made 440kg x3 look easy in training Andrey Malanichev went for 455kg in the GPA Powerlifting Championships in Finland.
This would have been the first raw 1003 lbs squat I believe.
It was red lighted by the judges for being high (check this gif I made). Good decision. I am sure he will make it someday.
Also probs to Malan for walking the weight out and not wearing these ridiculous super tight wraps.
Update: Together with his 260kg Bench & 405kg Deadlift he broke the All Time Record World Record Total of 1100kg (2425 lbs)
Here is the full meet:
Here is 435kg (959 lbs) Squat which was a good lift according to the judges.

Let us not forget he still has a very good chance of beating the all-time raw total record. He will need something like 250 kgs on bench and 402.5 kgs on deadlift, but I think this is quite possible, especially considering he only got two squat attempts, so he won’t be as fatigued as he would have had he taken a third squat.
Emil says
Shit. Looks like he could’ve nailed 470 to depth!
Jay Blais says
i wont lie to you, i could not tell the difference between the two

Here is the full meet. He went to 405 on deadlift for a whopping 1100 kgs!

Dr Glasgow says
what’s the rule nowadays on depth in the squat? When I was into powerlifting in the 80’s the line between the knee and the hip had to pass below parallel–enough so that the judges could see it
Gregor says
Not a fan of those squats either. Depth should be obvious, leaving no questions asked.
