Here are Apti Aukhadov’s lifts from the London 2012 Men’s 85kg.
He basically lost to Adrian Zielinski by drinking too much water.
Q: In the end, you lost because you were 130 grams heavier than your opponent. Would it have been possible to lose the weight beforehand?
Aukhadov: In fact at the weigh in I even missed a kilo. Then the coach told me to drink a bottle of water to make up for the shortage.(via)
And then on his last clean and jerk he had to rush because the coaches didn’t watch the clock.
Well, anyway, he already has plans for the future – moving up in weight. It’s going to be exciting to watch what this 19 year has in store for the future.
Clean & Jerk: 205kg, 210kg, 212kg
175kg Snatch
210kg Clean & Jerk

Sounds like perhaps he’s not happy with the coaching and is blaming them. I think I read somewhere he trains in Georgia so he probably hasn’t worked with the Russian national coaches.

Btw here is an interesting link showing where Apti trained with his father. Seems like alot of world champions had humble beginnings and less than favourable training conditions. http://wsport.free.fr/ChechenWeight_Article/Aoukhadov_Apti_photos_salle.htm

Right, that should be shown to people in richer states that are constantly complaining about the state of weightlifting.

Yep, he’s clearly rushing the last attempt, quick walk by on the chalk and then looking at the clock without enough time to settle and focus. Sucks for him, also WTF coach told him to drink water before the weigh in? Why would you do that.
