Behdad Salimi 215kg Snatch *Update* Bahador Moulaei 261kg Clean

September 1, 2014 By Gregor Winter

Meanwhile in Iran …

Behdad Salimi Snatched 215kg in a competition between weightlifters in the national camp to determine the top 8 for the Asian Games.

I am told his lifts were:

  • Snatch: 206, 212 and 215kg
  • Clean & Jerk: 250, 260

Also Bahador Moulaei was seen limping off the platform with injury (195 + 245, x261).

Update: Bahador will probably be lifting at Asian Games (via).

Update: Scroll down for Bahador’s 261kg attempt.

Update: Iranian Team for Asian Games announced (via).

  • +105kg:  Behdad Salimi (Bahador waits for MRI results, via, Update: looks like he will be ok, via)
  • 105kg: Navab Nasirshelal
  • 85kg: Kianoush Rostami, Rasoul Taghian
  • 69kg: Jaber Behrouzi
  • 56kg: Majid Askari

  • Dmitry Lapikov’s 215kg Snatch
  • Alexandr Kurlovich 215kg Snatch

I would have posted it if it was available.

good point…I just excited to see it. He’s typically a hit or miss clean and jerker and 260 sounds big for him.

So this isn’t count as a world record, right?

That’s right, this does not count as an official world record.

So any news from rest of the team?

nothing interesting, except 128+154=282 for Askari in 56kg and 172+212=384 for Rostami in 85kg. Molaei failed to lift 261 and got injured.

And what happend to Saeid Mohammadpourkarkarach? Will he compete again?

not this year. he is injured and left the camp few months ago. here is the final squad for the AG (and most probably the same team for the Worlds)
Askari (56). J. Behrouzi (69), Rostami and Taghian (85), Barari and Nasirshalal (105), Salimi and Molaei (+105), Molaei has to check with the doctors first.

we could see TWO 260+ clean and jerks soon from Iran. Amazing!

Is Nassirshalal still/again on the team?

And is the plan to lift at both asian games and worlds?

Awesome. Only to attempts in the clean and jerk, because he doesn’t need more. 475 kg total is very strong. I am looking forward to see Salimi in November.
