Behdad Salimi 225kg Power Clean & Jerk

February 22, 2014 By Gregor Winter

Meanwhile in Iran …

Behdad Salimi gets a 225kg Power Clean & Jerk (heaviest on ATG so far).

Also check out his 260kg Clean & Jerk (heaviest C&J in 2013).

Update 12.05.2014: Behdad did a 232 kg Power Clean …

Update 01.07.2014: 225kg Deadlift + Power Clean + 2x Jerks

Update 24.02.2014: Hossein Rezazadeh replaced Kourousha Bagheri as head coach of the Iranian team. Remember that Behdad and other lifters didn’t get along with him and left/got kicked off the team. So now Behdad, Sajjad Anoushiravani, Kianoush Rostami, Saeid Mohammadpourkarkaragh & co. are back in the national team and take part in training camps. (via & via)

More (Super) Heavy Power Cleans:

  • Bahador Moulaei with 222kg
  • Hossein Rezazadeh with 220kg
  • Evgeny Chigishev also with 220kg
  • Andrei Chemerkin’s 230kg looks like a Power Clean too

to me it looks like he gained some more kilos?
his 260kg-cj was not in an official competition, so i think moulaei (255) did the heaviest clean jerk in 2013..

Speaking of Moulaei…is that him sitting in the background? Do these two train together? What does that suggest about Salimi’s future in Iranian weightlifting?

yeah….the guy in background does kind of look like Moulaei but not too sure.

since they have a new coach for the national team, Salimi and his friends (Rostami, Mohammadpour, Nassirshelal and Anoushiravani) are back. both Salimi and Molaei are invited to the national team. even though they still don’t like each other.

That’s interesting news. If all those guys return to their best shape, I think you could make an argument for Iran as perhaps the best team in the world.

How come you know that they do not like each other. Is it your imagination?

based on their interviews, Salimi and his friends called 2013 team’s performance “poor” and they mostly blamed Molaei for losing the SHW title to Albegov and obviously it made 2013 team members upset and they answered them back by calling Salimi and his friends “coward”. by the way Salimi and Molaei faced each other in a league competition 3 months ago Salimi won by 20kg margin. (450 to 430) they both failed to lift 260kg in CJ.
