Meanwhile in Iran …
After we heard about the comeback of Saeid Alihosseini the Iranian team had a competition at the end of their 3 week training camp, where some big boy weights were thrown around.
Commenter PJ writes:
Not a national championship, just a competition for the weightlifters inside the national camp to determine the final team for the worlds. Kianoush Rostami is training separately and has his own program and didn’t participate.

Gregor Winter says
Thanks for clarifying.

I think hashemi doesn’t get enough credit. He has been posting some solid lifts recently. 225 would have been top c/j in rio. Idk if he is at 94kg body weight right now though
Gregor Winter says
Looks like he made the move up to 105kg. He has been 104kg recently at the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games, after being 100kg at Asian championships.
Payam says
Ok that makes more sense.

Sohab Moradi is in excellent shape .
Hope to see old 94 world records finally broken.
Jerker Karlsson says
425 kg in the 94 kg class for Moradi is very, very impressive. And the supers look good as well. Any chance they send both Alihosseini and Salimi, or is it just one spot in that class? Maybe the Iranians will be the ones to dominate in Anaheim, with less competition from other top nations. I’m thrilled to see them lift.
PJ says
and here is the final roster of Iran in USA based on those results:
85: Rostami, Miri
94: Moradi, Mousavi
105: Hashemi, Soleimani
+105: Salimi, Alihosseini
Reserves: Askari (69) and Teymouri (+105)
Jerker Karlsson says
Thank you for the list. Is this an official list or what you reccon will be the final list?
PJ says
This is the official list announced today
Jerker Karlsson says
Thanks for the information, appreciate it.
Payam says
PJ do you know what ever happened to Rasoul Taghian? And what about Mohammadpour? Is he still injured?
Siasookhteh says
Rasoul Taghian is done with weightlifting
Mohammadpour is still on track

I must say that at the moment Saeid Alihosseini looks much better than Salimi but who knows what’s gonna happen? Timing is everything so close to the Worlds. Also the super heavies can jump much higher during competition so that makes it even more thrilling 🙂 Lasha and these two guys will put up a big show hopefully.

I see the Iranian team getting a whole bunch of medals at the upcoming Worlds. Perhaps some WRs as well?
