Here is a fun watch for the evening.
2 bodybuilders went to the Olympic training center in Berlin where they got a coaching session from Marco Spanehl (German Record Holder with 123kg /157,5kg at 62kg, Olympian and C&J Bronze medalist at the 1992 Europeans).
After a warm up they work squat stabilization, learn to squat ATG and finish their first session off with Power Snatches.
Turn on English subtitles in the bottom of the player.
If you enjoyed this then also check out their BB meets Strongman and BB meets Climber episodes.
Rebecca says
Great film, really enjoyed it. Can’t find much info on Marco Spanehl, which category did he lift in?
Gregor says
Not sure, either 54 or 59kg.
Alex says
He is still the german record holder in the 62kg-class.
You can visit him in Berlin, Gregor! 😉
Pablo Lara says
The girl seems kind of clueless… for a bodybuilder she doesn’t have much muscle, except for the abs…Although, if the bodybuilder is the guy and she’s just there to learn, my mistake.
Gregor says
Yeah, he is the BB and judging from their other vids she is into fitness stuff.
Al says
She did seem pretty clueless, but I watched some of the BB meets Climber episode and have to say she impressed with her ability to knock out pull-ups, especially with odd grip arrangements. One thing that episode made clear was that being scrawny is no disadvantage for climbing.
Spencer Jolly says
I really like his discussion on the ATG squat and how it is not necessarily the safest way, but is mandatory for anyone trying to be a weightlifter. A very balanced explanation.
Gregor says
yes, his explanations are very good. Honest and precise.
Ivan Bista says
haha, awesome vid, I understand german (mostly), so I watched it without subtitles. The poor girl had no idea how to snatch at first, she kept the bar as far from the body as she could, haha. But the guy showed a nice understanding of the technique.
