Boyanka Kostova just broke all three under-23 European records and all three senior European Records! She was in a one horse race until the end, starting after all the other competitors had finished, power snatching her first attempt and not even breaking a sweat in her clean and jerks after following herself. 41kg ahead of second place. A clean sheet and two hat-tricks. Unbelievable.
Her final results are 100/105/109, 125/132/137, 246. Adding 1kg to the snatch and clean and jerk senior records and 8kg to the total (for European Records).

If I am not mistaken, she would be 6th in the men’s 56 class, which I find much more impressive.
She outlifted the male AZE competitor.
Woooha, unbelievable! I also like her technique in the snatch and the clean.
I don’t mean to downplay her amazing achievement, but whenever a relatively unknown lifter from a small European country puts up numbers that almost rival the WR, the question that immediately pops up in the back of my head is: “when is that lifter’s name going to show up on the doping ban list?”
except she isnt really an unknown lifter. She has been european champion before, placed very high at several world championships and competed in the olympics.
Not saying she wont be caught. (i would not be supprised at all) but she has cleared testing several times before.
Right, she’s not really “unknown”, but this is considerably more than she’s ever lifted, and that’s always a huge red flag for getting popped (remember Daniel Godelli?), especially when the lifter is from one of the smaller countries like she is.
Hopefully Azeri federation and trainers have better planning than Bulgarian. If she was still with Bulgarian team she would probably be on the list already as the other 11 lifters just before the championship.
