Here is another fun Bundesliga weightlifting report with Ritvars Suharevs & Vadims Kozevnikovs.
A video with ups and (painful) downs ?

I drove to another Bundesliga competition with 2018 junior world champion—Ritvars Suharevs and Vadims Kozevnikovs. This is a longer video, but I hope you enjoy the whole thing as it has a lot of ups and (painful) downs ?
Before Competition
I sat down with the boys while they were refueling their bodies with kebabs, coffee and chocolate. Despite the terrible lighting in there I used the opportunity to interview Vadims a little bit.
Competition
Snatches didn’t go to plan at all!
As the coachEduards mentions in the video, both are currently in a high volume training phase. So their strength levels are really good right now. But “when volume increases, speed goes down.”
But being true professionals, the boys brushed it off and attacked clean and jerks with a fresh mindset.
Ritvars clean and jerked 195kg, which is a PR at that bodyweight (81.8kg). He has done 196kg as an 85kg before and therefore wanted to take 197kg here.
After successfully clean and jerking 206kg last time, Vadim took a good shot at 207kg and even got it overhead, but see for yourself what happened after…
After Competition
As always this is not just a competition for them, but a heavy training session.
When the other athletes were already enjoying their free beer, the Latvians had to squat and pull.
All in all this was another fun competition.
Hope you enjoyed the somewhat different format.

How does an athlete from another European country qualify, to compete in Bundesliga?
Gregor Winter says
There is no qualifying process.
Each team is allowed two foreign athletes which they can just choose. So either teams reach out to athletes or the other way around.
