Has anyone been able to match Platz high rep squats? He’s doing it highbar with a narrow stance. So fcking crazy!

That’s one strength feat I don’t see ever falling.

rumor about squat record at fibo = fake plate.
Like during famous powerlifting competition “hawaii budweiser record breaking” during the 80’s.

Honestly, any weight for 22 reps is quite hard, but that amount. Mind boggling.

Tom Platz squats were done with real plates, according to all the sources I’ve seen. Fred Hatfield writes about them in his book, and he is not in the habit of spreading misinformation. If I recall correctly, Dr. Squat managed an 855 max to Platz’s 765 max, and then they had a rep contest, which Platz won–the 23 rep video that is so famous now. Regardless, if you just look at Tom Platz’s training DVDs, you’ll see him repeat sets like this over and over. Not at 500 lbs, but still, heavy 20 and 30 rep sets were the bread and butter of his training routine.
That said, Platz was wearing a loose squat suit in this video. That is something you don’t often see recognized. So, Chad Smith is quite close. I’m not sure why the Platz video is labeled “525 lb squat”. I’ve always seen and read of it being 500 lbs. This more recent labeling would seem to be incorrect, unless someone can offer some concrete evidence explaining otherwise.
