This is the Chinese Power Weekend compilation video from last weekend’s competition in Switzerland.
Featuring: Tian Tao, Shi Zhiyong & Co.!
Last weekend I drove to Switzerland (podcast episode here) for a small competition that received bronze level status from the IWF.
Enter the Challenge 210 in Tramelan.
A floor level platform in a dimly lit gymnasium…
Being a bronze level event meant a bunch of high level athletes used this opportunity to get a qualification event in. That’s how the Chinese A team ended up in a little Swiss town that is home to roughly 4,500 people.
What the venue was lacking in terms of lighting was easily made up by a great audience. The atmosphere was one of the at any weightlifting competition I attended so far (although behind Ilya’s session at 2014 worlds in Almaty. Nothing will beat that).
That seemed to have sparked some of the athletes eagerness to put on a show.
Shi Zhiyong didn’t even plan to compete, so he used Lu’s golden shoes and literally powered through all of his lifts.
Highlights
Shi Zhiyong 180kg Power Clean
Shi’s 150kg Power Snatch at 73kg
Li Dayin 170kg Snatch
