Salimi better watch out. Dayum. Russians are coming on strong.

Salimi did 210 + 254 last weekend in the Iranian league and it didn’t that hard too

Did they show/mention bodyweights? People on IG were saying he got even larger.

I remember seeing a news article where they mentioned him being 174kg there

Just note that iranians don’t have doping controle in their league. Salimi did 217+256 prior to 2012 Olympics, but it wasn’t even close in London.

I know I know…. and I don’t care. I only care about weight on the bar.

he was close in paris 2011 he did 214+250 (217 he did in september 2011), he was prepared for 256 but he went 264. london was 2012

            August 25, 2014 at 07:17

how you now that ? those weightlifters in national camp (including Salimi) are under doping control, (both from WADA and the national doping committee) and that 217 was not a league contest, it was a trial competition to determine the national team. and for your info he was injured in London, only good enough to win the gold, no more.

            • Gregor says

              August 25, 2014 at 09:46

and in addition wasn’t there a little doping scandal involving juniors not too long ago? So they are definitely testing.

        • Tom Bennett says

          August 24, 2014 at 21:26

yeah but it looks like there are going to be a lot of 210+ snatches and a lot of 250+ clean and jerks…Lovchev is growing at an amazing rate. 212/256…3kg off world record snatch and 7kg off world record clean and jerk and he has some of the best training partner/competitors in Albegov and Chingiz. Very exciting.

          August 25, 2014 at 17:37

Exactly–less than Lovchev coming off an injury!

    • Alexey says

      August 24, 2014 at 19:29

Yes, he did. Just added 4 kilos to Ruslan’s previous record in total. So sad that Albegov missed the nationals:(( The battle would’ve been way hotter.

      • Tom Bennett says

        August 24, 2014 at 21:24

man are we going to see Reza’s record go down soon???? Lovchev is pretty young…World record total is 210/263=473.

  3. Alexey says

    August 24, 2014 at 19:26

Chigishev’s record in snatch has stayed since 2005, but was beaten twice at the single noon:)

Chigishev was sooo light for SHW…a super athlete.

      200x/201x/201 – 235/240x/xxx – 436@131,10 kg – 3rd place … don’t know the reasons

      • guest says

        August 24, 2014 at 20:42

Lapikov (like Klokov) is a pure 110 class guy. His best total as 105 is 433, as SHW 440.

        August 24, 2014 at 21:02

Hate to say, but it seems like his best days are gone…

        • mrtn says

          August 25, 2014 at 15:22

i dont come to this conclusion. he had a bad day and problems with his technique – not necessarily a question of age. if you look at the ease of his third (successful) snatch attempt, you can guess what have been possible for him without his technical mistakes.
seperate from this a 110kg-class would be more suitable for him – and many others (dolega, klokov, chigishev,…).

I have never seen a higher bodyweight in OL, who is/was the heaviest SHW?

For those “modern” lifters where we have easy stats access, it’s him:
      http://iwrp.net/interest

That said, A LOT of data from past decades simply isn’t online, like all those Soviet nationals.

  8. Jerker Karlsson says

    August 25, 2014 at 09:55

Watching the missed cleans made me wonder if Mogushkov simply didn’t have the strength to stand or if he just got the bar in a bad position. Looking at the front view of the lifts, to me it sure looked like he simply had trouble to stand up. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

    • Gregor says

      August 25, 2014 at 09:57

I think it was a positional issue.

      • Jerker Karlsson says

        August 25, 2014 at 10:05

That’s what I would like to think also. I watched the lifts and expected him to make the clean both times, but surprisingly he never got out of the squat position. It would have been great to see him do a bit better in the clean and jerk. I hope they will send both Lovchev and him to the worlds. A snatch world record could be made.

    • Magneto says

      August 25, 2014 at 10:06

He is simply too fat to get into a solid bottom position that would allow for correction/stabilization of the bar. If the bar ist not 100% on point, he can’t do anything to prevent the miss. This happens even more due to technical deficits like a rather “sloppy” bar path and letting the bar crash on him instead of catching it smoothly. He has beastly strength no doubt so its even more strange that the coaches aren’t restricting his bodyweight.

        August 25, 2014 at 13:32

Totally agree with that point of vue. Increase bodyweight can afford heavier lifts, but you loose also speed, mobility, reactivity under the bar. don’t now if it was a strategy but if it was, he can see the limits now !
After all, his snatch is “just” 20 kgs above his bodyweight ! i already did that !! lol!

I am absolutely impressed by Chingiz. With that 213 snatch he became one of the real contenders and if he manages to cnj a 250+ he will be one to remember. I think he can do it. These are the golden times of SHW. Can’t wait to wacth the worlds!

One of the biggest Juventus fans in the world, and surely the strongest.

    🙂

(I am referring to the shirt he has under his singlet. Very surprised to see that).

  11. Leon says

Was he maybe injured after the snatch record? It seemed odd that he couldn’t even stand up with his second and third attempt in the clean.

  12. Denis says

    January 25, 2015 at 11:08

Chingiz is a copy of Krastev. Very heavy, big snatches and strange unability to clean and jerk something that suits their 213-216 snatches.
