Here is the second World Record Breaking Clean & Jerk from the 105kg Session at the 2014 World Championships.
Watch Ilya’s 242kg and Ruslan Nurudinov’s 239kg here.
David Bedzhanyan‘s 240kg, taking back his Clean & Jerk World Record from Ruslan Nurudinov, who took it from him only a minute prior to this lift. Unfortunately for David this record also didn’t last long as Ilya Ilyin crashed the party with his 242 kg Clean & Jerk.
David definitely had the meet of his life in Almaty. Lots of people were doubting his abilities to deliver a medal performance on international stage.
I can’t fathom the mental toughness it must take to open at 225kg, miss his second attempt at 236kg and come back and make a world record weight.
Update: Read David’s Interview on ATG.

Does anyone, Gregor included, know what does he’s wearing here? They look like they have the Nike swoosh on there but I’m not sure.
Gregor says
These are Adidas Power Perfect with a custom Nike swoosh painted on the sides (Nike is the Russian team sponsor)
Sean says
That makes sense, they didn’t look like anything I had seen before from Nike
gdsgfg says
Power Perfect II. With nike swoosh added to please sponsors.
Tom Bennett says
His snatch was pretty much on par at 187. If he hadn’t been competing with the best all around 105kg lifter and the strongest clean and Jerker he would have won. Very impressed.
Tom Bennett says
how strong are that guy’s hips to power jerk that kind of weight???
grobpote says
Benzi did it! I am very happy for him. No one can say that he’s not good anymore. Venkov said he can put on some more kilos to the snatch and will be able to cnj 245. Well,a 435 kg total would be unforgettable. I hope he will do it in the future.
Matevos says
Bedzhanyan made 190 in Russian competition 2 years ago. Definitely agree he can do more than the 187 he did at World’s, which wasn’t particularly hard.
