240kg Clean and Jerk lifted at the 2011 Russian Cup St. Petersbubrg. More here.
He went 5/6 with 185 190 193х 225 235 240.
That’s 3kg more than Alan Tsagaev’s previous WR.

Either Bedjanyan or Bedzhanyan is acceptable. Specifically the character ж is more like a zh sound, but of course zh does not have any meaning in English except to approximate a phonetic sound, so I could see why some people might think it’s more correct to use j instead.
That was beautiful but there is still 238 kg on the world record’s list. Why?
Not an IWF controlled comp, therefore records don’t apply. Same goes with the Chinese nationals last year when Lu Xiaojun’s rival broke the snatch world record (I think?).
