Meanwhile in Russia …
Video Blogger Misha Prygunov, followed Dmitry Klokov around for a day.
It’s 2 hours and in Russian, but just from watching it confirms my view of Dmitry – always working on something.
They visit the Winner Sportswear offices and the place where his clothes are produced (all sewn by hand!), train together, and finish it off in Dmitry’s sauna.
Notes:
- at breakfast: he usually sleeps in and doesn’t eat breakfast, sleep is too important for him
- is around 109kg and could get up to 115 by the end of the week if he decided to eat a lot
- says that only Russian WL system requires lots of muscles, other teams have very good lifters that aren’t very bulky
- then during the drive he had two anecdotes about corrupt Russian traffic police
- In the clothing factory:
- apparently he has the need to “put clothes on people” since late 2005
- got the name “winner” despite it being already trademarked by someone in Australia, but they didn’t use it
- wants to expand his clothing line to a lot of specialty sport, but the focus is on generic sport clothing
- started to produce clothes in Russia for patriotic reasons and cause it was easier to organize but is thinking about moving production to China long term
- currently sales only via the web shop but is trying to get his stuff into regular stores in Russia

drarara says
main point is that all thats he is saying technique-wise is purely his view on classic soviet style-weightlifting(mentions chinese-turkish pull is a little diffrent 55:15). said “well i cant be considered CJ specialist especially after this years worlds)))” Injuries-100% hernia or smth in the spine, when his back looses strength he feels it- legs tingling etc. choses not to know for sure as it will mentally affect him.
Tom Bennett says

Gregor says
It’s fairly recent. was shot after worlds.
Tom Bennett says
gotcha…can’t be that small if he just snatched 200kg ha
Nate says
What exactly is he saying about kefir for a few minutes in the beginning?
Sergiy says
He likes it. He mentioned it in his video once, and since then people on seminars bring him some kefir. However, foreign kefir is a lot different from Russian one and the Russian kefir is the best. Foreign people don’t know what real kefir tastes like.
Nate says
Thanks Sergiy
Evgeny Filatov says
Heh Klokov benching 140kg thumbless grip.
lifepainter says
I really enjoy videos like this, it puts lifters in a lifestyle mode which I can relate somewhat. Life isn’t just about working out even though I wish it was.
Drewandy says
What a successful man, more people instead of just weightlifters should look up to him! Reminds me a lot like Arnold Schwarzenegger
Brandon says
How does he and his routine compare to lifters in his class in the Soviet days ?
