Meanwhile in Russia …
Dmitry Berestov Cleans 210kg for a triple.
About the 2013 President’s Cup:
He was surprised that he was not allowed to lift there. (via)
He tried to get on the Russian team, but because he didn’t compete in the 2013 Russian Championships, he was not admitted to the worlds selection and the President’s Cup.
He assumed it was understood that a former Olympic gold medalist (who is in good shape) would be invited. In training he did 190+220 and would have been competitive in the 105kg.
He echoed what Akkaev said in his interview with Klokov:
We very quickly forget the athletes, who have recently been number one.
But he won’t let that drag him down. He intends to fight for a spot in the Russian national team (via).
His Goals for the Future:
I will prepare for the Cup of Russia in February. If I can finally get onto the team I will prepare for the European Championships. […] I am ready to train, lift at a serious level until the year 2016, and then quietly retire.
