This is simply mind blowing. The guy is doing bodybuilding on the side and can still snatch like a boss

Is he still on the Russian national team watch list (B-team or C-team) for minor tournaments?

If that proves correct it will be very interesting to see what they both can do at the Russian nationals.

Thanks for the links, sergey and Gregor. Google translate gave some laughs and some confusion, but it seems promising. I hope they both compete.

I know he’s overweight right now but I feel like he could break the snatch record even while semi retired and travelling the world.

he said he trains weightlifting on weekends and bodybuilding on weekdays. I doubt he could even snatch 200kg

“…even snatch 200.” Something about that combo of words doesn’t seem quite right LOL

Yeah 200 is a lot. and snatching 193.5 with a pause.. He could possible snatch 200 right now. After cutting below 105kg for a competition though?? Probably not.

its a lifetime pr – i dont know if he has done this exercise in all of the prior competition preparations, but if yes you could exspect that he also must be able to do full snatch near to his pr – which is above 200kg in -105kg division at national competition.

World records are only broken at competitions. Going down to 105, ditching the straps, and having to pass a doping test…probable result below 190 kg.

I wish I had a trainer like Klokov when I was lifting. When he said in one of his latest video that many athletes rather think about competition as an exam not as a celebration I thought : this is experience. Yes ,he can teach new things for me. I just didn’t get that sort of psychological preparation. I have to say this guy is very good.

i agree with you! He is so versatile. He is doing weightlifting, bodybuilding, and cross-fit. simply amazing!

Pretty sure he failed those attempts at 184kg and 188kg because it’s actually 193kg and 197kg. Those Rogue bumpers are 55 for red, 45 for blue, 35 for yellow and the 5 pound iron plate. That’s 425 and 435 pounds respectively

Good catch. You can see the LB labels in full screen mode pretty easily.
