Welcome to All Things Klokov as this site will be called from now on.
A new Klokov video a day? I can live with that 🙂
Today Dmitry has a video of a (almost) Straight Legged Snatch Grip Deadlift with 250kg
And a set of 5 with 120kg on the Snatch Grip BTN Press aka Klokov Press

Is it normal to have a Klokov crush?
mrtn says
it seems to me that his feet arent in a line while he is in the starting position for the snatch pull.
is it me or do you see the same?
DoubleCheeseBurger says
yeah his left foot seems a bit ahead, but i feel like ive seen his feet turned before
agram says
When he recovers from the clean he stands with his front jerk foot slightly ahead, I’d imagine it’s just mentally ingrained to do that all the time now.
Jean-Patrick Millette says
Probably has nothing to do with it being ”mentally ingrained”. It tends to depend on flexibility and mobility. People who split jerks often have asymetry in the legs/hip causing rotation (due to the overuse of the same position as we don’t switch legs). Creates tight hip flexors on one side and tight hip extensor on the other. It usually not to bad if the person is conscious of that and is doing maintenance work. (like he is)
agram says
Well that would explain why I have tight hip flexors on one side and tight extensors on the other, and always catch snatches/cleans with my front jerk foot slightly in front of my rear foot.
Time to stretch and do maintenance for it, thanks!
Noel says
I don’t think this is a case of mobility and/or flexibility. These guys are world class olympic athletes. These are guys that have unbelievable mobility and flexibility. For a structure to be “tight”, it must be stuck in a position on a very long time. (i.e sitting) but these are lifts and they don’t stay there for more than 30seconds. What I do believe the case here is he is trying to bias one leg by placing one leg forward. I do not know whether his injury is right or left knee.
name says
Yeah, especially if you’ve seen the photos of him straddling left to right stretching, the one with his back on the floor and his legs beneath him and his leg up in the air on wall bars.
Jean-Patrick Millette says
I never said he was not flexible or mobile. But lifting big weights creates adaptation and in a lift as asymetric as the split jerk, you will notice most people have a slight rotation of the hip. He is not the only one with this hip shift.
roberto says
once I saw an interview saying that Klokov do not do the classical lifts often, instead he spends the time doing presses deadlifts and bodybuilding movements
Daniel Kadlec says
everybody wants to be a bodybuilder…….
Evgeny Filatov says
Ha, wrong site buddy. Purpose of this is to highlight people lifting heavy shit, not necessarily look good on podium.
Daniel Kadlec says
sorry I forgot: “irony mode on” 😉
ChrisKhater says
yeah he obviously doesnt practice snatch or clean and jerk and doesnt win any medals.
Ken says
So I guess that’s why he never wins gold on major competitions. (except in Doha, no one was really there)

[deleted] – no one on one flaming here.

He’s a bit like Chigishev in that. Both of them seem to have a certain following amongst weightlifting afficionados in the West but in terms of performance, on paper, they are not the best by a long shot.
Mathias Nikolai Arnesen says
Chigishev I can understand, he was always a underdog of some sort, at a massive disadvantage in terms of bodyweight compared to his main competitors. Taking bodyweight into account, he really was one of the best superheavies. 207.5 snatch and 240 C+J at 113kg bw in 2003, easily, and 211 at 125kg bw in 2005, when rezazadehs WR was 213 at 160+ bodyweight. He lost the olympic title by 1kg to a man weighing 25kg more (no disrespect to Steiner!).
