I’ve got the impression that this result will turn into around 175/217 at the worlds. Hope to be wrong, but the Ukrainian athletes tend to lose a lot when going abroad.

Wasn’t Artem Ivanov Ukranian? He did pretty good in international competition (nowhere near his national competition though of course)

He is now in Russia. Moved from Crimea after the russian-ukranian conflict. It’s quite a serious situation here in Europe.

good for him…better to be lifting weights than getting blown up. He’s a talent #2 behind Illin at Worlds in Paris. Looked like if he’d been smarter with his attempts he might have won.

Yes, Ivanov was ukranian and put that insane 420 total in 2012. Unfortunately he got injured before London and we never got to see how real that was 🙁

Wow! That was one of the nicest lifts I’ve seen in a while. Hopefully he can pull out a solid performance next week.

He competed at Junior Worlds in 2008 (142+174) and 2010 (150+180) as a 85. He also got 170+215 at 94 last year at nationals winning the first place. Looks like he hasn’t competed internationally since 2010, so we will see what he can show. He is also 24 years old.
