The last male ticket to the London Olympics was awarded to Apti Aukhadov.
In their last training meet on July 6th he lifted 175 / 215 kg. Kireev lifted up 175 / 205 kg, Chen 155 / 182 kg.
So the men’s team looks like this:
85kg: Apti Aukhadov
94kg: Alexandr Ivanov and Andrey Demanov
105kg: Khadzhimurat Akkaev and Dmitry Klokov
+105kg: Ruslan Albegov
No changes in the female squad.
63kg: Svetlana Tsarukayeva
69kg: Oksana Slivenko
75kg: Nadezda Evstyukhina
+75kg: Tatiana Kashirina

Man that sucks but injuries will happen to the best eventually, he had an amazing run I think he should have won in 08 yet his coaches did not expect steiner to pr like he did. Russia has a really strong team this year though, will be interesting to see how they do.

Is this Russia’s limit for lifters? Why only 1 lifter in the 85Kg and +105kg categories? Nevertheless they are fielding a very solid team. I can’t wait for London.

yes, for the olympics, a full team for men is 6 and full team for women is 4

Russia “could” win all 4 weight classes men are entered in. But my guess: Akkayev at 105 (though I’d love to see Klokov win) and Albegov in the +105 will be there two golds.
