Last week’s Form Check Friday was fun.
This weeks focus will be on missed lifts (but you can still post videos of makes too).
Again, this is chance to receive feedback from other lifters /coaches and also train your eyes to analyze your lifting videos.
- Provide some context along with your video (was it a max? etc.)
- extra points for Kinovea use
- take critique like a deep squatter
Anton makes the start again. This time with a 100kg Clean & Jerk miss.
Stuart missed a 90kg Snatch.

I’m back, this time with a missed C&J.
Anyone got any opinions on this lift? Would be greatly appreciated 🙂

Not too sure why I’m missing this, I seem to catch it on my toes, don’t know if it’s more of a flexibility issue though…
Anton Viberg says
Like you said, you’re catching it while on your toes and when the bars weight is crashing down you can’t keep tip-toeing and therefor get thrown down/backwards. Can you do over head squats without tip-toeing? 🙂

It looks like you never move into a wider stance when getting under the bar. Maybe that would help you getting a better positioner under it

My 2 cents as a fellow lifter:
Snatch. I agree with the two other comments of landing on the toes as the main issue, but some other issues that may be causing it: tight mid back/hips/ankle/shoulders, it looks like you need to be on your toes to keep an upright torso position. You might have some asymmetry, as your left leg moves out and back while your right leg stays in the same location through the landing. So maybe even work on range of motion and position on the right side at set up and landing.
C&J: Jumping a little soon before you shift weight back to the middle of the foot, so you hop forward on the clean portion. On the Jerk it looks like a little forward momentum is created on the initial dip plus when you land your mid back looks too extended, but I think this was caused by your front leg turning out at landing with more then 50% of your weight on the lead leg –> rotating hips + over extension.
Then again I could be very wrong too. Cheers

Here is my 210 lb. miss, not sure where I went wrong on it, had the height just couldn’t get under the bar. http://youtu.be/R63DrnmnuP8

Looks like the bar is in front of you slightly. Might be due to an early “second pull”.
