Igor Lukanin goes beast mode with a 264kg Jerk!

Future Rio Medalist. The only question is whether it will be bronze, silver or gold.

unfortunately i have my doubts about this. This brings to mind another yt sensation, who failed to deliver on the platform. Now, while I do understand that the case in point for this unnamed sensation is different from Igor’s predicament, I still wonder whether we’ll ever see him compete.

For our and the sports sake, I sincerely hope we do though.

I was just expressing my excitement through an optimistic prediction. Are we fans that jaded where we must first entertain the worst case scenario instead of best? There are 3 years till Rio and Igor is “on the come up”. I wish him good health and good urinalysis.

I’m afraid don’t understand the politics behind Olympic team selection. Why doesn’t he have a country exactly? Can’t he lift for Russia (I think he’s from there)?

he can lift for Russia, but first he must wins the nationals, he must compete in snatch and C&J in a competition plataform, not on youtube videos.

Are you saying he can’t do it?

Here Igor is lifting on a platform in what seems to be a competition.

220kg c&j (don’t know if that was given 3 white lights though)

    And 190kg snatch

This was posted to youtube in 2012, don’t know if it is from 2012 or older.

That’s Belgrade cup in Serbia. He trains (or at least trained) in Belgrade Red Star weightlifting club (most of his videos are filmed there). There was talk that he might lift for Serbia. That would be a bad choice as the money sucks and the training conditions are rather bad. The only positive thing would come if he medals in Europeans/Worlds/Olympics. He would get a sport pension for life (which is pretty good money for Serbian standards, three times the average monthly salary, but that only means something if he continues living in Serbia). For Olympic gold, which is not going to happen, he and his coach would get a 35000 EUR prize. Maybe a decent apartment too. 20 or 25k for euro gold, 10k for bronze. I’m not sure about silver.

So, Igor, find a better country. Mine sucks.
