From the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio …
This session a lot of up and downs …
Starting with Li Yajun (53kg, China) Snatching 101kg for a 1kg lead over Hsu.
She even attempted 104kg (a weight she snatched at Chinese nationals) for a new world record, but missed it.
Then there was this red lighted 123kg opener, which eventually paved the way to Li bombing out.
And here is Hsu Shu-Ching snatching 100kg. Together with her (super light) 112kg opener this was enough to take home gold.

How Li didn’t get her 123kg clean and jerk will remain a mystery to me. I can see the slight wobble in the elbow, but there has been some other things that got through in other lifts.

They probably felt, “Well, it wasn’t perfect, and she’s Chinese (let’s not have them dominate the medals by too much now) with her main rival injured so make her really work for it and put on a show.”

huge mistake opening 10+ kg above what was needed to secure the gold.
