Long De Cheng 226kg Squat (4x Bodyweight)

October 22, 2014 By Gregor Winter

Meanwhil in China …

56kg lifter Long De Cheng Squats 226kg which is 4x Bodyweight.

Men squat to max more often than women in the Chinese system because they have more power and less endurance. During the Ma Strength Weightlifting Camp, 56kg Long De Cheng adjusted his training and went for a max single in an evening session.

Yeah, you forgot to mention it was a beltless squat as well.

Olympic lifters seem to use the high bar squat a lot as an accessory lift. Its great for keeping the torso upright to mimic their other lifts with out as much stress on the knees. All good.

Question: Why don’t they go ATG with their squats to give a larger range of motion that would more closely resemble their competition lifts?

    Thanks

i read from somewhere the reason is because the sticking point is usually not at the bottom of the clean but rather close to the middle, that why they dont go ATG, but nontheless its still below parallel and legit

Actually if you look at WLers during a snatch at the bottom position the emphasis is often on the knees moving forward rather than the hips being as low as possible. Either way, it doesn’t really matter so much to mimic the form of a snatch or CJ so much I don’t think–just developing the leg strength is probably the most important thing.

It’s more common to go atg with the front squat since it’s less taxing on the back. A super heavy back squat taken to extreme depth with no belt can be dangerous.

Sure, that;s impressive, but I think with the same kind of mass and bulk Long De Cheng has I, too, could come close to squatting 226 kg. But I prefer to remain lithe and spry rather than all bulky and musclebound, and I don’t want to get all out of breath going up a flight of stairs, like I am sure he does lugging that kind of a frame up the steps.. right?

Seriously? Sorry if I missed the sarcasm here, but the guy weighs 56kg, that’s less than most women. How does he look in anyway like he is physically unfit or lacking mobility? While he does have some muscle mass, I certainly wouldn’t call him bulky

Dude. He may be small for your skewed weightlifting standards, but to your average person 56 kgs is HUGE.

Are you insane, 56kgs is tiny. Maybe you’re a midget…

mind = blown. That being said, I think a lot of it has to do with his relatively short thighs compared to the rest of his body. Leverages do wonders.
