Meanwhile in Latvia …
Mart Seim (Estonia, +105) gets a 190kg Snatch in a training camp in Latvia.
This is a 10kg PR after his 180+233 at the Estonian nationals last month.
Update: Mart Squatted 320kg x10!
Update: his 246kg Clean & Jerk at worlds + the Story behind the lift.

Very well done by Mart!
It was time that his snatch caught up because his Snatch to Jerk ratio had been quite low for a while. He’s easily got the strength to do it with a 350kg (and 5x320kg) back squat which is as much if not more than what Olympic medalists are doing (correct me if I’m wrong but Steiner had a best of 3x310kg).
Potential medal territory for the 2014 Europeans if he added a bit to his C&J as well, say bring it up to 240kg or so. He’s got the strength for it easily.

I wish him all the best. I didn’t see any other snatch but in this one the bar path is not optimal. He has to compensate a lot which he can because of superior strength. However, when he polishes his technique he might easily be good for more.
Either way I hope to see a strong performance by him in a week or so.

10kg in a month seems absolutely insane for somebody at his level. No?
Matjus Mäger says
Not necessarily as I think this was just getting his technique down. At the Estonian Championships a month ago his snatch to his C&J was about 77% which is far below what most SHW (or any weight class lifters) are doing. This just brings him to par with the rest of them, assuming the same base C&J. His strength is more than ample for these kinds of weights and more.

plus didn’t he have some type of hand(?) injury, and during that time I believe he worked on squats a lot.
ah, here it is: https://allthingsgym.com/mart-seim-interview-injuries-350kg-squat/

Yep, he was not able to snatch (and c&j) for a long time.
