Hi, I run ATG.
Follow me on instagram @gregorwinter (and ATG @atginsta).

I played football and went to school with him. He taught me how to squat ATG. He was deadlifting 585 for reps in the middle of football season at 17 years old. He was impossible to move as a lineman as well. He doesn’t bench for some reason though. His comp bench last time i talked to him was 315. I don’t think he’ll ever care about his bench so long as he keeps making tremendous progress and smashing records. That 804 was good, he got screwed.

Agree with Ryan below: Matt got screwed by the judges. That 804 SQ was perfect. Impressive lifter. Even more impressive considering he’s 19. And that looks like a singlet not a suit…was this RAW?
GregorATG says
Yep Raw (at least I hope so). I am not posting equipped lifting (including these ridiculous, overly tight knee wraps, that make people look like they walk on stilts) videos anymore.

Sohmer always competes raw. Actually, most good American PLers do these days. Try to think of some good raw lifters and you immediately think Efferding, Lilliebridge, Perry Ellis, Duffin, Sam Byrd, Jay Nera, Dan Green, Jesse Norris, Jamie Lewis, Vashon Perryman.. the list goes on and on. Now try to name the top single-ply and multi-ply lifters in those same weightlcasses. Doesn’t come so easily, does it?
GregorATG says
True.

A lifter nobody ever seems to mention is Mike Sinclair. Just mentioning him because you mentioned Jay Nera who’s also a Canadian guy, but Sinclair is lifting at the Raw Challenge at the Arnold this year against Mike Tuchscherer. Sinclair’s qualifying total was 1969 done over a year ago, Tuchscherer’s qualifying total was 2000. The next best guy in that weight class only totaled 1697. He’s a bit of a dark horse it seems, nobody knows who the guy is but based on his improvement from June 2010 to Jan 2011, he’s got a really good chance of giving Tuchscherer a run for his money…

Dan Green is one of the most impressive physical specimens
Jay Nera says
Dan Green is the best powerlifter on the planet right now…Eric Lillebridge and Kade Weber are soon to be the best ever(not including the Ed Coan of course).
I appreciate the love. And yes, when Mike Sinclair gets healthy again, and I hope that that is soon, he will total over 2000 raw. He has the strength to squat into the low 7’s, to bench low 5’s and low 8’s…2050+ is in his ball park already if he were to have the perfect day. I could see him going 725-540-850….Ottawa has some strength. 🙂
