I’m always curious about the process countries employ to choose their national teams. Misha has won Russia’s championship several times and is competitive on the international scale. Is there a reason that he doesn’t lift for the national team or compete in the Olympics?

yes, he won the russian championship, but his appearences at international competions (drug tested) were not that successful.
and – its russia, they dont really need him. there are several other strong and younger superheavyweights, such as ruslan albegov.
