Update: Crossfit put the Mikko Salo Documentary “Sisu” on YouTube
“I like to beat my body body down and have the feeling afterwards. I am pretty much addicted to that feeling.” – Mikko Salo
Today over at CrossFit.com you can freely download a clip of Mikko Salo.
“A Glimpse at Mikko’s 2011 Games Training – video [wmv] [mov]”
Mikko, an athlete I very much look up to, is being interview in the midst a running workout. He usually works out alone, always pushing himself and doesn’t let anything interfere with his training.
In the video he is doing 10x 400m runs @ a 70s-72s pace with 90s rest in between runs.
He used to workout on a 5-7 days on, 1 day off schedule.
But being in the final stage of his preparation for the 2012 CrossFit Games, he is upping his volume to 3-5 workouts a day, training 3-4 days in row before taking a rest day.
What does a rest day look like for you?
– Just eating.
If you haven’t already, I really recommend watching the 60 minute “Sisu—The Mikko Salo Documentary“.
Unfortunately it is not a free download, you have to subscribe to the CrossFit Journal for $25 US / year. But this video alone is worth the money in my opinion.
