Mohamed Eldib set a new World Record in the Men’s 100kg at the London 2012 Paralympic Powerlifting.
The 33-year-old lifted 249kg, but could have still been beaten by defending champion Qi Dong who got 242kg on his second. However he failed failed on his final attempt with 250kg.
Here is the 249kg Bench Press World Record.
Made it look pretty easy & didn’t need anybody to help unrack the bar.
In other news:
The Men’s +100kg didn’t see its first 300+ kg bench press.
Siamand Rahman set two Paralympic records and won gold in the +100kg category. He opened with 270kg (Paralympic recrod already). Got 280kg on his second. Being no puss he went for 301kg which would have been the world record, but was red lighted. Video here.

What was more crazy about Siamand Rahman’s attempt was that he got that 301kg up but was declared no lift because the bar wasn’t quite horizontal. From what i have read thou

lol the 100kg lifter broke ed coans bench record at 100kg by 40lbs-I realize he has no legs which makes him weigh less but he also has no leg drive- He is only 30lbs away from the all time bench record though its at a untested meet and I believe the Paralympic are tested. I feel so weak after watching this now. I should bench more but it tends to make me tight for snatching and I’m horrible at it-long arms-

Thanks for putting it into perspective (even though they are hard to compare).
There is no reason not to bench if you are healthy. Just do more shoulder mobs.
