@nathandamron85 (-85kg, USA) back squatting 255kg and 275kg/606lb at the 2016 Junior Worlds training hall. While this isn't a PR for him, he's down to about 88kg now preparing to lift as an 85 which means that this is the lightest he's ever been when he broke the 600lb mark. #weightlifting #olympicweightlifting #hookgrip

If he captures lightening in a bottle going 6 for 6 he could go 158 / 200 and battle for a medal but more likely will be 153 / 192 and hopefully a top 5 placing.

Whats your opinion on such an high effort in a heavy auxiliary exercise only a few days before a competition? What is the reason behind it programming-wise?

From watching videos and listening to Travis Mash”s(Nathan’s coach) podcast, I would opine that this normal training for him during a peaking phase and he feels stronger when squatting heavy. I would bet the coach knows his lifter and knows what stimuli he responds to best.
