Oleksiy Torokhtiy 240kg Clean & Jerk

February 20, 2013 By Gregor Winter

Wow! Here is a way too easy looking 240kg Clean & Jerk by Oleksiy Torokhtiy.

His bodyweight was 106.20kg and he did 175 + 240-415 in that meet (18.08.2011, via).

Update: Here is his attempt with 230kg.

The plates look weird, but it really is 240. Watch the 230 video and then the 240 video and you will notice the bigger 5kg plates that were added to the small 2.5kg plates on the 230 attempt.

His 230kg attempt was ridiculous too, I can’t believe how easy that clean was to stand up with! What a champ.

He does succeed in making them look very similar though 🙂

I would love to see Oleksiy move this kind of weight at World’s this year and give Akkaev a run for his money

Akkaev wont be at Worlds. It looks like he retired.

What about Artem Ivanov where is he right now? did he participate in this meeting?

Not long ago Artem resumed what he calls “serious training” (after his injury pre London). I might have more about him in the not so far future 🙂

Amazing weight lifted, but it makes me wonder why his snatch results are so inconsistent. In the last year he lifted 175kg, 198kh, and 185kg all in competition? If he’s going to give Akkaev and Klokov a good run he’s got to stay close to 200kg.

He did 185kg in London, but was two close misses on 190kg. He did 195 and 198 before London in two different competitions, this is the 195kg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPcvUopXjhs. Akkaev and klokov is the same when they are in competitions not outside the country, and are doing 10-15kg more then they are able to do when they are at the olympics, worlds and europeans. That is the same with almost all the best records holder lifters in the world, some lose weight from 3-10kg before the big competitions and stops to take illegal substances to be clean. Russia and Ukraine have bin in some big trouble after the olympics, and the coach of Russia lost his job after the scandal that, Akkaev that got a back injury and was at the plympics looking on 85kg and 94kg but not able to lift,Klokov and Slivenko Oxana was not able to compete and never at the pre-camp/athlete tower for olympics in london. And that TSARUKAEVA Svetlana only did 112-125 on the olympics when svetlana did 118-139 in a competiton 4-5 weeks before the games. Also the scandal with apti lost his gold on bodyweight and the coach got him to drink water before the weight control. Ukraine withdrew Ivanov Artem, Udachyn Artem and Dovhal Yuliya all with same explanation knee or back injury as Russia.
