Ruslan Albegov 210kg Snatch Almaty 2014 World Championships

November 21, 2014 By Gregor Winter

Here is Ruslan Albegov’s 210kg Snatch from the 2014 World Championships in partial slow mo and realtime.

After missing his opener at 203kg, he came back for 205 on his second and 210 on his third attempt.

(Watch his 209kg Snatch from the 2013 Worlds here.)

(Video also on Facebook, and @atginsta)

His Future Plans: First get recover from smaller injuries that crept in. In January he will miss the Russian Cup. After a consultation with his personal trainer Kazbek Zoloev (who btw is a former arm wrestler) they will decide what competitions to prepare for. His participation at Europeans will depend on his health and physical condition. (via)

Trivia:

  • he became the first man with consecutive Snatch golds in men’s +105kg at World Championships since Salem in 1999 and 2001.
  • Ruslan equalled Andrei Chemerkin (RUS, 4) for most gold medals among Russian men in the +105kg category. Among all athletes, only Hossein Rezazadeh (IRI, 10) and Jaber Saeed Salem (QAT, 5) have more.

Greg I guess you are recording with high fps; but how do you create this smooth change in speed in the video? Is that a specific software you are using? Thank you

I record at 50fps and use after effects for the slow mo

Greg, I’ve been following your site for a couple of years now and just want to say I think you’re doing a really good job with it. It was exciting having all the photos and videos to keep me up to date with what’s going on at world champs this year. Thanks.

btw did you get any feedback from lovchev or his trainers about what happened with his snatch ?

      Thanks for the kind words.

Unfortunately I could not attend the +105 press conference so I have no insight on that, but maybe I can find another way of getting that info 🙂

The head coach mentioned in the interview that it was his fault to let Lovchev open with such a high snatch. I think Lovchev wanted 205, 210, 215 for a WR, but was too nervous.

he’ll be back with a vengeance. I’m also interested in why Salimi fell apart in the snatch. I would have thought he was guaranteed to hit at least 210

or short limbs! He looks like he could bench 600 with those arms.
