Meanwhile in Iran …
29 year old Saeid Alihosseini is back lifting big weights.
While at a training camp with the national team he snatched 210kg and clean and jerked 250kg.
After originally being banned for life for failing two doping test, his penalty was changed to a 12 year suspension.
And it seems his suspension has been further reduced to 8 years (even though IWF still lists it at 12 years on the sanctioned athletes page). Anybody know what’s up with that?
Anyway I heard the 8 year thing mentioned a while ago and now the Iranian press also seems to be on board with it. If it is 8 years, his ban ends October 24, 2017. So it seems like is on track to compete at worlds 2017.
Saeid Alihosseini 210kg Snatch
He still holds all junior world records:
- 206kg Snatch
- 245kg Clean & Jerk (Simon recently came close to breaking the record)
- 451kg Total
which were all set at the 2008 Asian Junior Championships in Jeonju, South Korea.

Well the Iranian weightlifting federation received a letter from IWF confirming this , he is eligible to compete from 24 October 2017. actually he didn’t train full time this year since he was working on his PhD ! this is the first news/video coming out of his training records (probably the first time he is trying big weights) and I’m quite surprised with the numbers, he is already surpassed Salimi to be #1 in Iran !

probably just a matter of time before it becomes a lifetime ban anyway.

IRIWF never disclosed that letter.
I dont know really why this matter still is outstanding. It is about a year.
Back in 2008 or 2009 he was the only man who passed 270kg. No video unfortunately.

Well, it would be great if he actually showed up in Anaheim. I’d like to see him lift. These two lifts looked rather easy.

This guy looks beautiful! That’s what you expect from a superheavy plus he has been banned so he didn’t wear himself out in the last few years. Very exciting to watch!
