Ha ha, good one, Gregor.

His common usage name is really Saeid Mohammedpour (spelling varies, see instagram). The second surname is frequently the place of family origin introduced in the early 1900s. Karkaraq is a village in northern Iran. See:

Same with Behdad Salimi. In everyday lingo it’s not necessary to use Kordasiabi as well (Kord Asiab is a village in Mazandaran).

Yeah, I just wanted to use the whole name once in a title.

not to be a negative nick… but I’m always impressed by how sloppy/sluggish some of the iranian technique looks compared to some other technicians we have seen here on ATG. However, they do manage to lift absurd amounts of weight anyway so I guess it doesn’t matter. But personally, I always appreciate watching someone who might lift less weight but has better technique.

Good observation. They all get the key elements right though, that’s why they are competitive. Just by the looks, the Iranians lift a bit “dirty” compared to other powerhouses like Russia, China etc.
