Simon Martirosyan 182kg Snatch & Total Youth World Record

May 3, 2014 By Gregor Winter

Meanwhile in Poland at the 2014 European Youth Championships …

17 year old Simon Martirosyan from Armenia snatched a new Youth World Record in the +94kg category.

182kg, surpassing the 181 from Gor Minasian.

What’s more, he did it at 108.6kg bodyweight!

Update: A 215kg Clean & Jerk also earned him the Total World Record with 397kg (which would have bumped Aramnau off the podium at Seniors Europeans 105).

He also took a shot at the Clean & Jerk Record, but missed 221kg.

Update 22.08.2014: Simon tried 183kg at the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olmypics, but was not given that lift.

Full Snatch Video. His lift is at 44:20 in the video. Click here for a gif I made.

Clean & Jerk Video. 215kg is at 49:50.

Just your usual 10 and 12 kilos increments on the snatch
    (mind blowing)

If the event T-shirts have that cool weightlifting bear on it. I would buy one in a heartbeat.

Can’t believe out of all people that held it before it was Yang Zhe as a sub 105kg lifter

I knew today was a long day, but when I read that as “281kg snatch” I knew something was off.

What’s interesting about armenian athletes: there are really lot of talented guys, who does big things in youth and junior categories, but it rarely comes to world class results on senior level for them. The only top athlete for Armenia in recent time was Tigran Martirosyan, despite they had a plenty of promising young guns…
