Meanwhile in Tokyo …
2017 Junior Worlds finished with a bang!
After clean and jerking 235kg (a 5kg competition PR!) 20 year old Simon Martirosyan took a shot at
Saeid Alihosseini’s junior clean and jerk world record (245kg).
Even though he missed the bounce he had no trouble standing up with 246kg.
Simon weighed in at just 113.45kg.

Part of me thinks the JWR weight was accidental, the numbers are otherwise exactly the same as Ilyin in 2015.

It’s probably a dilemma – which category is he gonna choose? 105 or +105 kg?He’s one of those lifters who could really use the old 110 kg cat because he’s already a bit big for the heavyweight but should gain a lot of weight to be a superheavy. Hopefully does a couple more years in 105 and maybe break the WRs and then goes UP!
Huge results by the way 🙂

IWF must rethink the 110 kg category, or even a 115 kg. Many lifters has trouble being with 105 kg, and in the same time doesn’t get even close to a 120 kg of bodyweigth.

the lift was very close. 246 is a respectable weigth for a superheavy. It could be interesting this kid in the podium winning over guys with 150, 160 kg of bodyweigth.
