Chad Vaughn keeps on growing his weightlifting exercise library.
Today he goes through the Snatch Grip Squat Press (sometimes called Sots Press, even though I heard the original Sots Press had you press the bar from the front, like Kevin Cornell did here with 110kg).
Probs to everybody who can do it without elevated heels.

They’re called Russian presses BTW. Snatch grip squat press is such a long winded name. Russian presses works better. Its also taught to be done without elevated heels in young lifters, thus allowing them to be so comfortable in the snatch position that with the addition of elevated heels, the bottom position in the snatch is almost as comfortable as sitting. Personally i do these and squat jerks without my shoes on to stretch everything out before lifting.

We do a few variations of these. I would call this a BTN Sots press and we’ll also work a push under – snatch drop in slow motion as the bar remains in place and the body slowly moves under the weight. Great to improve mobility/stability and develop strong bottom position.
