Squat Like A Weightlifter Workshop

February 22, 2015 By Gregor Winter

A bunch of Berlin based youtubers met for a “Weightlifting Squat” (a.k.a. Squat) workshop.

The group is being coached by Marco Spanehl whom you might remember from the “Bodybuilder Meets Weightlifter” video. He breaks down the movement into manageable pieces to achieve adequate (for each body type) Front and Back Squat form.

The video is in German but has English subtitles.

This is pretty badass. I love the material the BodybuildingRev puts out. Haven’t checked any of it lately, so thanks for posting this Gregor!

I hope they do one for the jerk next. Seems to be somewhat of a German specialty.

I’d love that. I could be wrong, but from what I remember from watching weightlifting online, if a German lifter can clean it, they jerk it.

As an amateur lifter from Germany who learned the technique under Marco Spanehl I can tell you that there is nothing special about the jerk technique. Fully extend, keeping the upper body upright and don’t rush into the split. In the split: front shin 90°, rear leg a little bit more loose and bent.
I will ask him the next time for some weightlifting technique clips. 😉

Thanks. Seems this little guy knows one thing or two about training 🙂
I learn a lot about Front Squat with this post too (http://robertsontrainingsystems.com/blog/front-squat/).
