Thanks to Roberto who keeps the Bulgarians 1988 clips coming.
We continue with Stefan Botev and a 200kg Snatch (? 3 big reds + 1 slimmer 15kg?).
Also check out this article (Update: original article was removed.) about Botev where he talks about modifying his Bulgarian-ish training to accommodate for his age. Mixing in more exercises and shortening training sessions.
I have another system not as tough as, for example Abadjiev used to train us up to about 8 hours / day. But now I work out only 6 hours / day. This is enough for me because my age (29 years) is increasing, so if I would train as hard as before, I would not “survive”.
Also, he confirms what came up in the last Stefan Botev Clean video.
In the case of Clean & Jerks, it is 260kg max, and I have not tried the heavier weight.
In 1988, I was really strong before the Olympics in Korea. I could C&J 260kg then. I wanted to try to 270kg a few times, but Abadjiev did not give me permission to do so. He meant that I could get hurt. I have done 260kg about 10 times before the 1988 Olympics. It was unlikely that someone else had done this weight.

the amazing thing about bulgarians is the manner that they dominate the heaviest weights as if their light warm ups, its a spectacle and one of the most beautiful aspects of this sport!
