impressive but fairly weak/borderline lockout
Gregor says
Looked like a lockout to me. He didn’t stick head through, which makes it look like an unfinished attempt, but I’d say elbows locked out, hence the post.
Everett says
Steve is a powerlifter, so he doesn’t have the same concept of locking out as people with a weightlifting background do. When the elbows are locked, we’re used to considering a lift finished. The whole pushing the head through thing probably doesn’t occur to him at all–you’ll notice he doesn’t push his head through on any of the lighter sets either. When doing overhead as an assistance lift, I often don’t push my head through either. It’s not really a relevant part of the lift for a PLer.
Gregor says
Yeah I get that. I was just trying to understand why it might look like not-locked out to some. As I said, good lift in my book.
Everett says
Absolutely–just adding some support to your comment. 🙂

no lockout is no lock out

Reading the comments I expected something shaky and half-assed but that looked pretty convincing to me. Yes, he did not stick his head through but the weight is over his head and under control. That is strong stuff.

Yup.

hahaha that was pretty entertaining. I’d say good lift! Its like Pauly D took a few years off then started powerlifting
