Su Dajin 260kg x2 Squat

September 15, 2015 By Gregor Winter

A highlight from the Asian Championships Training Hall.

Su Dajin (77kg, China) squatting 260kg for a double.

Before this set he did 260 for a paused single. Immediately after he squatted 280kg.

Update: Here is his 280kg Squat.

Update: Had to delete a bunch of comments.

Guys, there is no need / no excuse for talking shit about lifters and ATG is certainly not the place for it.

Sorry for the good comments that got deleted (part of deleting a whole comment tree 🙁 )

        Ok, thanks!
I’m interested in how these athletes peak for a competition. Could you tell us what you saw during your travels? Are there standard deloading days? What is the chinese approach?

you can’t draw conclusions from what you see a couple of days before competitions.

Some squat heavy, some pull heavy, it varies,

Yes, I know it’s difficult to understand their training method by only watching few days of their training. And every athlete has his own needs. But “generally speaking” they go heavy until the end, right?

nah, their first training after arriving is usually very light, then it gets harder until a day or two before competition

Thanks, that’s a quite different approach compared to the classical deloading week before a competition. I wonder if it is suitable for recreational lifters… I have to experiment!

Has anybody heard of Jia Dong Chu (77kg, China) competing? Ive seen a couple videos of him and he looks talented. Not much out there on him or many videos but never see his name when it comes competition time. Does anyone know if he is still in the Chinese system?

Yes, he’s still lifting but didn’t total in this year’s Nationals (151+195x). He lifted in past Nationals and National Games 2013-2014, maybe more. 贾冬初 on the scoreboard.

is he the “next big thing 77kg” guy? he’s good but definitely not on the top level given how talented Chinese 77kg’s are. I don’t even think he’s with the national team, since we never see him in those news clips.

Yes thats him. That was from a couple years back though. I’m curious to see if he’s considered part of Chinas A or B team or really in the mix at all. Right now I feel like he just hasn’t put it together at a competition of actual importance. Which in itself is a problem. But its like you said, the 77s for China are talented. However, he still has a lot of time to put it all together and I hope he does. Very fun to watch
