The results from last Sunday’s super scientificly accurate polls are in.
+105kg
So most of you share my opinion that Salimi will have fully recovered (or at least enough) in time to take the +105kg.
Votes | Percentage | |
Behdad Salimi | 123 | 68.72% |
Ruslan Albegov | 52 | 29.05% |
Matthias Steiner* | 2 | 1.11% |
George Kobaladze* | 1 | 0.58% |
Somebody entered “myself” | 1 | 0.58% |
105kg
Against my prediction you think that Klokov will outlift Akkayev.
Votes | Percentage | |
Dmitry Klokov | 101 | 53.44% |
Khadzhimurat Akkaev | 79 | 41.8% |
Andrei Aramnau* | 9 | 4.76% |
94kg
And just to stab my back, you all decided to let Ilya win the 94kg. I’m telling ya, watch out for Artem Ivanov.
Votes | Percentage | |
Ilya Ilyin | 148 | 86.05% |
Artem Ivanov | 16 | 9.3% |
Saeid Mohammadpour* | 3 | 1.74% |
85kg
The 85kg are a little more diverse. I think if Moradi would have been on the list right from the beginning the whole thing would look differently. But still despite of a lack of news about him you guys still have a lot of trust in Rybakou.
Votes | Percentage | |
Kianoush Rostami | 44 | 35.77% |
Andrei Rybakou | 32 | 26.02% |
Sohrab Moradi* | 14 | 11.38% |
Adrian Zieliński | 9 | 7.32% |
Lu Yong* | 2 | 1.62% |
Kendrick Farris* | 1 | 0.81% |
*These were not on the list, but were entered in “other”. So expect these values to be higher were they on list.
105kg and 94kg is biased… we all love klokov and ilin lol
What? Are you questioning the scientific rigor of the study? 🙂
dude, watch some artem ivanov videos you’ll change your mind!!
My words! *High five*
I know right! love the side split jerk, and the attitude haha
I’m a little shocked by the ilin results he barley won in 2008 and last year world championships. If artem didn’t miss those lifts which is capable of making he would have won. in fact even with two misses artem still tied with him in total last year. I just don’t get that big of a difference in voting. klkov makes more sense due to the fact he is pretty damn close with akkayev with only 2kg between them last year. I think klkov is a gamer and could take a risk to go big.
I hope he takes some risks and goes all in.
He deserve Ilya more and more golds in the Olimpics Games!!!We All suport him to achive it!!!
85s… Aukadov is not even on list? With his 175 / 215 and 225 FS and jerk i’m quite surprised. But who did i pick?… Rostami
And all of us with Klokov man-crushes don’t want to face reality. I’d love to see him go 6 for 6 and win…but how does he beat The Beast Akkayev? Six-fo-six and Klokov still could lose.
^this. i hope nothing more than for klokov to win but i’m thinking he may take silver
hahahahah ill agree i voted Klokov mainly due to the man-crush
Couldn’t have said that better. Lot of people feeling like this.
surprised rostami and salimi haven’t been busted yet. i know its a general consesus that every medal winner uses some sort of drug, but the iranians are by far the heaviest steroid users in weightlifting.
Can you back that up with anything? Not busting your chops here, but I’m just curious as to how you came to that conclusion instead of the team of any other nation
to be fair to both of you i think its hard to assume any country uses “more”. but iran has had one of its prominent junior supers (junior world record holder i believe) busted for drugs and in an interview he stated everyone on the national team was using so was big reza. also to mention corrupt countries generally let things slide by like this
good points – I hadn’t heard of that particular iranian infringement/the lifter’s comments. It certainly raises eyebrows!
Interesting, can you dig up that interview?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hossein_Rezazadeh
there is a ton of info online if someone is bored enough to find it….but in the wiki article states that the banned lifter accused reza of using drugs…whether it was out of spite, revenge, or simply being pissed off cuz he was the SCAPE GOAT. the truth doesnt lie.
Thanks, checking it out now.
This guy was upset because he thinks some of Rezazadeh’s friends set up his lifetime ban. (and he is most probably right) He was talking about 2006 accident, when the whole team (including
himself, Nasirinia, Barkhah and the rest) tested positive but only
Rezazadeh tested negative ! he says “we used the same thing because the
Bulgarian coach told us, his test didn’t come positive because it belonged to another person, not him.”
All previous positive cases belong to previous coaches, nobody tested positive in last 2.5 years with new coaching staff.
no offense to anyone here, but did anyone actually vote for kendrick to win the gold in the 85? lol no one put aukadov on the list and voting Klokov to win, man crush or not, is actually logical in some sense. but kendrick likely won’t even medal if he competed in the 77 class this year.
Yeah, it is not likely to happen. His performance in competition has not been the best in the past. But still his media presence is important to spread the word about weightlifting and get people to watch it.
mess to big, you have no idea how these guys train, if you knew what they do during training, then you would even question there performance you ignorant prick.
