The ipf raw world record for -93kg is 303 kgs (Layne Norton 13.06.2015). And it’s lowbar and actualy looks like a good morning…
If there really are 302 kilos on Tian’s bar, he is from another planet.
Victorsays
Well, whichever planet that is, he came with Lu Xiaojun cus Lu has squatted 305kg from little more than 77kg…
LeGrandSingeBlancsays
Yes, and don’t forget that Liao Hui just front squatted 260 kilos, which is the ipf raw squat world record for -74
However, we can’t be sure there was 260 kg on his bar
Victorsays
Front Squat 260. Why can’t we be sure? Not that plates slightly off color thing, is it?
asdfsays
That’s exactly it. . .though I don’t think that is sufficient to deny his feat since if you watch the 2014 Asian Games, the plates are very similar to the ones used by Liao Hui in his 260kg FS in that both are shiny (and the Chinese are known to use a wide variety of plates). So, just because the plates are shiny does not make them training weights.
Victorsays
The plate color issue has gotten so big that Ma Strength commented directly, saying that Chinese weightlifters don’t like to grind reps (since grinding causes lasting fatigue and has less carry-over value to the Olympic lifts) so this is what PRs do look like and also, no elite Chinese weightlifter uses form plates, nor do they stock them with the national team. I guess when you’re that strong,10kg plates are form plates.
Petesays
Do you have a video link of that? In youtube, I only found his 300kg attempt (failed).
Victorsays
Nah. In that video, they say that his max is 305. I’ve never seen it either.

Looked stupidly easy.

can we send them a better camera?
