Meanwhile at the 2016 Russian Weightlifting Championships…

Timur Naniev (105kg) posted a huge total of 422kg. He had a perfect session in the snatch finishing on a strong 192kg but started the clean and jerks with a wobble after missing his first attempt. He ended with a fight by getting 3 white lights on his final 230kg lift.

    I think this was the most impressive performance in this competition. From what I can recall from his past lifts, he looked more like a snatch specialist, but with this kind of number on the C&J, he could medal in the totals as well. He’s also only 21!

    He could have won the world champs last year with this performance. Very nice! I hope he makes it to Rio.
