Turkey: Five Turkish lifters tested positive during the U23 Europeans last month.
That was enough for the Turkish officials. The entire board of their weightlifting federation resigned.
Akkus would not name the weightlifters, saying their positives had not been confirmed yet, but said none of them had won medals.
Bulgaria: Ivan Abadjiev wants to return to Bulgaria.
I posted about this before. Seems to be true after all.
“ll put out a few more seminars in America, then I plan to return permanently to Bulgaria and finally finish with sport”
Abadjiev done with the sport of weightlifting? What non-sense is that…
Google translate…if someone reading this is a native speaker. please help with the translation.
The translation is correct about that one.
source: I’m from Bulgaria.
Does anyone have info on the ‘seminars’ Abadjiev is doing?
He’s done some before, they’re on youtube. I think on ARFINweightlifting’s channel. Apparently they’re poorly translated though. Here’s part 3, you can find part 1 through it (I’m lazy :D). You’ll need to turn up your speakers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHCJ43zUEOY
Not sure if my previous comment got published properly. You can find them through this link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHCJ43zUEOY – this is part 3 and you can find part 1 through it. You will have to turn your speakers up and apparently the translator isn’t 100% correct.
So non medalists are testing positive? Too many conclusions to draw…
In my mind it makes sense. He probably wouldn’t work as an individual coach within a federation, therefore headcoach or nothing else, and he probably knows himself that he’s a bit too old or maybe he just doesn’t want to deal with the stress.
His last serious prospect, as far as I’m aware, was Hysen Pulaku who is now effectively retired as well probably (due to his being unable to earn points for olympic spots, what’s the point in letting him compete?!).
Taking these two factors, plus his age, into account…why not retire?! Man has probably worked all his life and then some.
